Harrow Green Community Library is run totally by volunteers and is now entering it’s sixth year.

We are based in the Epicentre in West Street, Leytonstone, thanks to the support of the local housing association, Peabody.

If you are a long-time member, you will have noticed some big changes in the library over the past twelve months, including a complete re-categorisation and shelving of stock and the introduction of a new Online Web Catalogue. We also have more exciting changes to share with you over the coming months , so please keep an eye on our News and Facebook page.

Thanks to the many donations from supporters we now have over five thousand items with a particularly diverse and interesting fiction collection

Opening times:

We are open on three days a week:

Mondays from 3pm – 6pm

Thursdays from 3pm – 6pm

Saturdays from 11am – 2pm

For details of how you join the Library see Membership.

Free activities

In 2015, thanks to funding from the Lottery, we launched four free activities which have been very successful and are all continuing.

They are:

Monthly Family Storytelling sessions on Saturdays 2pm-4pm.

Guest storytellers and puppeteers involve all the family in creative and exciting approaches to telling and enjoying stories.

Monthly Creative Writing Group. Daytime session on the first Friday of the month 12pm-2pm. Evening session on the first Wednesday of the month 6.30pm-8.30pm.

An introduction to different forms of writing and an opportunity to work towards a publication.

Monthly Reading Club – last Monday of the month 10am-11.30am.

A chance to chat about whatever gets you reading and relax with a cup of coffee or tea.

For more details see our Free Activites page, or Contact us.
